Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Academy
The Southeast Region Career and Technology Center in cooperation with member school districts will be offering students who have completed grades 4-5-6 at the end of the 2016-17 school year some leading edge learning opportunities centered in a participation learning environment through the 2017 STEM Academies. Academies will be held July 30 & 31st; August 1-2, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Lisbon and Wahpeton.
Overview: The STEM Academies are designed to provide students with a variety of experiences and learning activities that enhance their foundation skills, in Math, Science, and Technology with a career and activity focus that centers around engineering related careers. Students are active participants and all activities are “hands-on”, in their instructional design.
Purpose: To create greater excitement and increase the knowledge of middle school age students in the areas of Math, Science, and Technology and how these core academic skills are an integral part of engineering and related technical fields. A variety of high interest, high energy activities that actively engage each and every student will take place each day.
Instructional format: Area master teachers with a proven history of utilizing a variety of leading edge technologies will lead daily learning activities. Each day will consist of two instructional blocks of 2hrs. 45 minutes each with a 30 minute lunch break.

*Anatomy and Physiology *Computer Aided Design *Graphic Design
*GPS-Civil Engineering *Laser Engraving-Design *Aviation
* Low Ropes * Medical Professions *Web Page Design
Student Selection: Students will go through a formal STEM Academy application procedure and selection process. Applications are available and open to students from all Southeast Region Career and Technology Center Partner School Districts.
Fees & Registration: The STEM Academy registration fee is $35 per day or $125 for all four days, with a $25 fee due at the time of application. Enrollment is limited in order to insure low student teacher ratios in the highest quality learning setting possible with a commitment to excellence! Student/Teacher ratios are kept low to insure quality student experiences. Students will receive several “take home” projects at no additional cost.
