Building Trades II (MISO3- 17117)

Prerequisites- Building Trades I
Building Trades II continues with the fundamentals of building with advanced training in floor, wall and roof systems. Advanced enclosure techniques will be included. Enhanced safety protocol will be included with emphasis on safety practices. Building Trades II will continue fundamentals learning Building Trades I but will also include introduction to residential plumbing, electrical, HVAC, Masonry, exterior and interior finishing. Students who successfully complete course modules and meet all safety standards will be eligible to receive nationally recognized industry credentials.
Course Description: Students in Building Trades II assume a leadership role as a student foreman on the job site. Students will help with the instruction of first year students by providing a helping hand and using the experience of their first year instruction. In addition, students will have “hands-on” experiences with power tools, blueprints, wall and partition layout, roof framing and shingling, window and door installation, house wrap, and exterior finishing to include siding, soffit and fascia. Students will be involved with drywall application and finishing, woodwork, trim, cabinets, and door hanging.
