Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) – (MISO3- 07032) High school Credit and/or Dual credit
1 credit of High school; 4 credits for Dual Credit; 18 weeks
Course Description: This course offers high quality training for those entering the CNA field or using the CNA course as a pathway to a nursing or other Allied Health Career. Emphasis is placed on working with clients in the long-term care setting. This portion focuses on the hands-on skills required of a Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A). Topics include such things as: Personal Hygiene and cares, including handwashing, bathing, bedmaking and assisting with ADL’s (Activities of Daily Living). Body Mechanics, Including transferring and mobility, measuring vital signs, assist with nutritional intake.
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Describe the role and responsibilites of the nursing assistant
- Perform basic nursing skills for clients in a variety of settings.
- Safely and effectively perform personal care skills
- Describe the concepts of patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Provide physical and emotional support to patients.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Course will be completed online at your own pace. 16 hours on onsite skills instruction will be arranged as you progress through the course.
